Join a global awareness movement that says “NO” to plastic straws
Hundreds of millions of plastic straws are used daily with a 200 year composting lifespan. This has prompted both public and private sector demand for an eco-conscious alternative to plastic straws.
As one of the most common types of single-use plastic, used only once and thrown away, straws are one of the culprits of unnecessary plastic pollution. Plastic straws cannot be reused or recycled due to the chemicals they are made from and are also not biodegradable since they cannot be broken down naturally by bacteria and other decomposers into non-toxic materials.
Straws eventually end up in our waterways, the oceans, due to beach littering, wind that transports the lightweight objects from trash cans and trash collection facilities.
Most plastic straws simply break into ever-smaller particles, releasing chemicals into the soil, air, and water that are harmful to animals, plants, people, and the environment.
